The Courtyard by Marriott has several locations in Shanghai, all of which offer good quality and service. We recommend the Xujiahui branch as it is located near the main gay scene in French Concession and just a short walk from shopping and transport links. Guest rooms at this high-rise building feature wall-to-ceiling windows, 32″ flat screen TV and excellent skyline views.
The hotel has a large gym (200 m2) and a very nice indoor pool. All-day dining is available although many restaurants are nearby.

The Ascott Huai Hai Road is perhaps our favorite choice for this area. This great-value luxury hotel is just a 10-minute walk from Xintiandi shopping, entertainment and nightlife. Each soundproof apartment is fully functional with a well-equipped kitchen, washing machine, refrigerator and large living area.
Guests have free access to the hotel’s wonderful facilities which include a heated indoor pool and state-of-the-art gym. The South Huangpi Road metro station is a short walk walk and provides easy connections to the rest of Shanghai.

The hotel rooms offer all the amenities you would expect from a 5-star hotel. We recommend opting for a river-view room. Surprisingly good value for money and excellent service. This hotel is proud to publicly state that it is gay-friendly. We like that.

We strongly recommend that you go for a river view room as it is this view that adds so much to the pleasure of staying at The Indigo. The Park Hyatt Shanghai occupies the 79th to 93rd floors of the Shanghai World Financial Center. In other words, it is one of the highest hotels in any building in the world. Needless to say, the views of the city and Huangpu river are stunning.
Expect minimalist-styled rooms and all the high-tech facilities you could ask for, including a motion sensor in the toilet! Huge rain showers in the bathroom and a large tub to soak in. We bet you will not find a swimming pool and gym on a higher floor anywhere in the world – the 90th. If you do, please let us know!
