6-day LGBT Chengdu and Yangtze River Tour

6 Days Chengdu extended tour to enjoy the history and culture of Chongqing and the water, cliff related scenery along Yangtze River. Highlights include Panda Breeding Reserve,Sanxingdui Ruins,Chongqing People's Congress Hall, Ciqikou Old Town, Three Gorges Museum, and Three Gorges Dam.

Day 1: Arrive in Chengdu Meals: No meals

Our local professional guide and experienced driver will expect you at the airport after your baggage reclaim and customs clearance, and then escort you to check in the hotel in downtown area. Relax during the rest time of the day to recover from the jet leg. You will get some suggestions about how to spend the rest time of the day from our tour guide.

Brief Introduction: Set back from the main road down a driveway at the base of the Haicheng Bld. You can see a Sports center sign from the road. MC sauna is below it and the bar is beyond it, around the corner. Large gay club with patio seating facing the river and large indoor seating with bar and small stage for performances. This is the happening gay club in Chengdu. Opens about 9pm and runs until very early in the morning. Packed on weekends. Free show. Entry is cheaper before 8pm.


Attention:

1. If you have no intention to Bar visiting, please tell your trip advisor who will omit that activity, requote the tour and give you the practical arrangements immediately.

2. Bars do have rest time and not available in whole 365 days, and we will recommend the equivalent ones to you based on your specific touring date if the bars closed. If you do have some in mind, please feel free to let me know.

3. Generally, the bar visiting activity is placed at the first night of a new destination for giving both you and your tour guide much more time to rest and prepare for the next days' activity. However, we would pull it out and arrange to 2nd or 3rd day if it has time conflict with your flight, or sightseeing.

Day 2: Chengdu Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

1.Chengdu Panda Breeding Research Base
Located in northern suburb of Chengdu, 10 km away from the urban area, the Chengdu Panda Breeding Research Base was built for saving giant pandas originally. Here also breeds some red pandas, black-necked cranes, white storks and white swans, black swans, geese, ducks and peacocks and other animals. The Giant Panda Museum inside it is the world's only museum that focuses entirely on the critically endangered giant panda. Inside the museum, on display all kinds of valuable information in Figure 800 pieces of photos, showing the main types of samples collected from Sichuan; the museum also exhibits books and scientific literature that authors around the world have written about giant pandas throughout history.


2.Sanxingdui Ruins
Sanxingdui, the ruins of the capital of the ancient Shu, a Kingdom over 4,000 years ago, is located in Guanghan City. The site covers an area of 120,000 square meters. In 1986, a great number of relics were brought to lights, among which six pieces are evaluated as national treasures, representing the best of the art of copper in China. Amongst the hoards of prize antiquities there are a variety of unique, grotesque bronzes, such as 2.62-meter-tall standing statue, 1.38-meter-wide bronze mask, 3.95-meter-high bronze tree, all of which stand out as treasures unparalleled. In addition, the gold ware represented by the gleaming gold scepter, and jade ware such as the blades with heavy motif, turn out to be undeniable rare jewels never seen before.

Day 3: Chengdu to Chongqing Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Take Train to Chengqing. Your Chengqing tour guide will welcome you and escort you to your hotel.


1.Chongqing People's Congress Hall
Built between 1951 and 1954, Chongqing People's Hall has a big red-tiered and 55 meters high dome that was shaped and colored like that on the Temple of Heaven in Beijing. There is a main hall that has the dome, a south wing, a north wing and an east wing. In front of the building, there is a square which was paved with smooth stone tiles. Furthermore, there is a stage for performances and official functions. When the spectacular light show which was controlled by some computers begins, the main building, the decorations in the square, and fountains of water are brilliantly and colorfully light.


2.Ciqikou Old Town
Ciqikou Old Town was named as it had supplied large amount of porcelain dating during Qing and Ming Dynasty. While wandering in street, you will find many outlets in ancient architecture for craftwork, groceries and the like as well as a horologist, photography supplies, drugstore and a tempting supply of roasted nuts and seeds. It is similar to the Jinli Ancient Street in Chengdu, but Ciqikou is bigger than that.


3.Three Gorges Museum
Three Gorges Museum, also known as Chongqing Museum, was the first large museum with the title of " China " named by the State Council Office of the People's Republic of China beyond Beijing. It's not only a specified museum of Three Gorges but also a comprehensive museum of history and art, a collection of over 170,000 pieces of cultural relics.Besides, the museum has the Round-Screen Cinema that shows the natural scenery and daily life of the Three Gorges area before the construction of Three Gorges Dam , the Semi-Scene Picture of "Big Bombing in Chongqing" which represents the five years'continuing bombing in Chongqing as the temporary capital during World War II.


Day 4: Yangtze River Meals: Breakfast,Lunch,Dinner

1.Shibaozhai/Precious Stone Fortress
Located in Zhong County, at the south bank of the Yangtze River, 278 km away from Chongqing, Shibaozhai was built in the slope of a steep hill along the Yangtze River in 1750 with 9 stories, then upgraded to 12 stories in 1956. Legend has it that the hill was a five-color stone left by Nuwa, goddess of Sky-patching, when she was patching the sky, hence its name "Shibao". What's most impressive is that it was made of wood, which is so exquisite and unique that it is crowned as one of the “World Eight Unique Constructions”, and it is also among a few ancient wooden buildings remained in China.


2.Fengdu Ghost City
The Fengdu Ghost City is situated in Fengdu County about 170 kilometers downstream from Chongqing on the north bank of the Yangtze. It is a Yangtze cruise tourist attraction featuring buildings and ghosts modeling a hell. The Fengdu Ghost City is unique in the world for its towering trees and numerous temples enshrined various gods and ghosts in the hell governing the ghost world by severe laws in legend.It is reputed as the home of souls and legendary songs in China.

Day 5: Yangtze River Meals: Breakfast,Lunch, Dinner

1.Qutang Gorge
Qutang Gorge starts at Baidi City, Fengjie County in the west and ends in the Daxi Town, Wushan County in the east, with a total length of about eight kilometers. Qutang Gorge is rightly famous for both its steepness and overall magnificence. Upon entering Qutang Gorge, the Kuimen (also known as Qutang Pass) is awaiting exploration. Two solitary and lofty peaks, Mt. Baiyan (White Salt Mountain) and Mt. Chijia resemble a God-made gate straddling the river. The rapid, rushing water and steep mountain magnificence are, justifiably, the highlights of the Qutang Gorge, which is regarded as the finest of the three gorges.


2.Shennong Stream
Shennong Stream is a 60-kilometer tributary of the Yangtze River, originating in the southern part of Shennongjia Natural Reserve and joins the Yangtze at Xirangkou in Hubei's Badong County. Drifting on the local peapod boat, you'll be able to enjoy not only the beautiful scenery along the River, but also see cliff-wallows swishing in the air, groups of monkeys jumping among the trees, shoal fish swimming in the crystal water, as well as ancient coffins in the rocky crevices left by ancient people and Shennong colorful pebbles.


Day 6: Departure from Yichang Meals: Breakfast

1.Three Gorges Dam
Situated at Sandouping Town of Yichang City, Hubei Province, the Three Gorges Dam is the largest hydropower station in the world with an annual energy output of 84.7 billion kilowatt-hours, which was completed in 2009. The dam is about 2,300 meters long and about 115 meters wide and 185 meters above the sea level. With a water capacity of 39.3 billion cubic meters, the dam could efficiently prevent flooding in the middle and lower portions of the Yangtze River. Being one of the largest dams in the world, Three Gorges Dam with the nearby nature scenery and cultural landscapes attracts numerous tourists annually.
